A night at the State Theater

It seems as of late that when ever my Cousins band LO plays a show I am right there in the middle of it. I try never to miss one. And normally the other bands that play are top notch as well. But tonight besides LO I was treated to Chumley's Toy. They are unique and aggressive so if your in the Tampa Bay area and do a little research you must and I can't stress this enough but you really should treat yourself to one of their shows.
More on Chumley's Toy a bit later.

As for Lo it was great to see the guys back on stage where they belong. Although a bit of stage rust was present it is to be expected considering how long it has been that they have had a show. But never the less they still pulled out one hell of a performance. New bass player Scott ( I think I remember that being his name) is an excellent replacement. Lo as always had the stage presence and energy that has become their trademark Whipping the crowd into a frenzy and then slowing it down just a touch to give the fans just a few minutes to catch their breath before slamming it back into high gear once again.. Always a pleasure to watch them live truly an experience that you should check out or if you can't make one of the shows here in Florida check out the website WWW.Loband.com and check out some of the tracks that they have on their website. And as always after the show we have to go to Denny's for some grub which is always a good thing to just sit back with the guys and realize that not only they are great musicians but man do they tell some jokes and can they eat just don't mention anything about Ciallis that will take you somewhere you don't want to go trust me. But its just great getting to hang out with Lo after the show where the entertainment just doesn't stop. Thanks again guys for putting on a great show.

Now back to Chumley's Toy. This being the first time I had seen them I didn't know what to expect but I had heard a lot about them. 2 or 3 weeks ago I went to the state with my cousin Steve just to hang out and see the bands and the singer from Chumley's Toy did some vocals with one of the bands that played that night (PARADIGM) My god to say that she is a good singer is a mild understatement. From melodic to down right deep growls the girl can do it all. The rest of the band members were tight as can be with killer groves accented perfectly by the singers voice. I would use the band members names if I knew them but sadly I don't so please understand I mean no disrespect. It is good to know that there is some serious talent here and Florida and I am glad that I get to see it, and if bands like Lo and Chumley's toy are any indication of what the music scene in the bay area is like I think it is safe to say that the music is in good hands. I hope to get the chance to see them again soon. Also check out their new web site which I have hyperlinks all over the page to check out their stuff if you aren't in the Tampa Bay area. Very well worth it I must admit.

Now I have seen the progression of music in Florida, some good some bad but I think one of the high points was in the late late 80s and 90s when bands like Death, Obituary, atheist and many other Florida bands were cranking out some of the sickest metal out there that was just as good if not better than some of the stuff coming out of California and New York. Yes I said it that right the man who hates Florida more than a kick in the nuts is proud of the music scene here and rightly so. But once again I feel that the high points are just around the corner thanks to Bands like Lo, Chumley's Toy, Paradigm,Synapse, Mr.Bella, Ignid, and so many others. So when in central Florida do yourself a favor and check these bands out you won't regret it trust me.

See you at Dennys

I am not a fan of GTA or Vice, but to blame video games is just dumb. Everybody wants a f*#$ing scapegoat. I think I learned how to play games before I learned how to walk, I'v had them all Atari, Colecvsion, NES, Super NES, N64, X-Box, PS2, Gamecube. Video games are like movies, entertainment, to escape reality once and a while. Plus it is fun as hell. I don't go around shooting people because I played it on a game. Right now I am playing Devil May Cry 3, you don't see me hacking and slashing people all over the place. Just like Doom, I'm not crazy about the game, but to blame it for Colombine. Joe Lieberman is one who blames games for the violence today. Video games are not to blame SOCIETY is to blame, not video games. Did video games cause 9/11 no, evil people did. Polictics should stay away from games and gamers alike, that's what a rating system is for.
